Blanket Challenges

All new, handmade blankets are accepted by Project Linus at all times.  However, from time to time the Collin/Grayson/Rockwall County Texas chapter runs special challenges to encourage a large volume of certain themed or sized blankets.  These blankets are then used to fill a special need within one or more of our beneficiary organizations.

Participation is completely optional and this is a ‘just for fun’ project. You need not take up these challenges!

Current Challenge:

Challenge Name Make Mine Music!
Due Date November 8, 2016
Minimum Blanket Size 45″ x 66″ or larger preferred, Teen Friendly fabric
Note: Please keep in mind the age bracket associated with your pattern/fabric.  When in doubt, bigger is better.
Complete Instructions The community our chapter supports tends to have a significant number of children with special interests that need our blankets.  To assist with this need, this challenge is to complete and turn in one blanket.  The blanket must have a theme that relates to what the theme means to you.  There is no minimum size for this challenge, but “blankets” are generally 40 inch square or larger; cuddles will be accepted but must be two or more.

In addition, the blanket must meet our normal blanket requirements of kid friendly, sturdy, and made with LOVE!

The deadline to receive a guaranteed charm is {See above}. Blankets can be turned in before that date.

After the deadline charms will be awarded as long as supplies last. (Charms will not be re-ordered for a challenge after that challenge deadline passes.)

Important Note: Project Linus supplied kits do not count towards completion of any challenge. (Project Linus supplied fabric –  complete with the selvage – does not count as a kit.)

Planned Reward One sterling silver theme charm per blanketeer as an incentive to encourage you to participate. (Only one charm per challenge/blanketeer will be awarded, even if you make more than one blanket.)
Special Notes Important Note: Project Linus supplied kits do not count towards completion of any challenge.  (Project Linus supplied fabric –  complete with the selvage – does not count as a kit.)

Special Beneficiary

All new, handmade blankets made by Project Linus blanketeers are sent to a number of organizations and individuals throughout Collin/Grayson/Rockwall Counties at all times.  However, from time to time the Collin/Grayson/Rockwall County Texas chapter also selects a beneficiary and provides them with a large quantity of blankets in addition to their normal supply.  These blankets are then used to fill a special need within their organization.
